High vs. Epic Fantasy

High Fantasy tends to focus on a lone hero/heroine who typically becomes in involved in a quest and is pulled into a (usually) world-threatening good vs evil battle.

Epic Fantasy is similar but features a much larger cast of characters telling the overall story from multiple points of view. You'll rarely find an epic fantasy complete in one book--usually an entire series is required to tell the story.

(Not everyone makes a distinction between High Fantasy and Epic Fantasy.)
