Illustrating runs in Brian Pinkney’s family; his father is illustrator Jerry Pinkney. When Brian was a child, he was a model for some of his father’s artwork. At the age of nine, Brian knew he wanted to be an illustrator, too. Brian Pinkney has made a name for himself, independent of his father’s fame, with his signature scratchboard style of illustration. Brian often works with his wife, Andrea, who is a children’s book author and editor. They have created many books together.
