Rachel Kamata,

The best of show for 2018 Teen Arts Fest Adjudicated Art Show, is this year's featured artist.  Rachel is currently a Senior attending the International School of the Americas (L.E.E. Campus) in San Antonio. Previously Ms. Kamata attended Krueger School of Applied Technology's (KSAT, MS), a STEM and Aerospace focused program. While in KSAT, Rachel competed nationally in NASA’s Student Launch Initiative (SLI), winning 3 awards, including Best Decorated Rocket in her group’s division. Accompanying this is the Director's Award, given to her by the KSAT Director for leadership and ability in her class. To this date she has been awarded multiple medals from the State VASE Competition and has 13+ Scholastic gold keys. 

Rachel joined the MOSAIC Student Artist Program in 2016 while transitioning from middle school to high school. While in MOSAIC she has participated in numerous exhibitions in the MOSAIC Student Gallery.  She has many memorable moments at Blue Star Contemporary including assisting senior MOSAIC students on, “Dream Peace”, 20’x 70’ mural located on the Coleman Street Underpass on Martin Luther King Boulevard dedicated in 2016. In 2017, Rachel Kamata served as a mural crew-member on a 12’x 60’ public art commission for the Historical Outdoor Museum off the main plaza in New Braunfels,Texas. 

The MOSAIC program has allowed Kamata to explore new mediums such as oil painting and ceramics, while also introducing her to the San Antonio art scene with fourteen MOSAIC Gallery exhibitions and two Public Art commissions.
