In her own words - Korte, Joan Marston

Joan Marston Korte is a native New Yorker, born and raised in Queens.  After receiving her nursing degree she spent two years in the Air Force Nurse Corps rising to the rank of First Lieutenant.  She and her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Roland W. Korte, met at MacDill Air Force Base, and after he retired in 1974 they relocated their family to San Antonio, eventually moving downtown.

Korte has been active in a wide variety of community affairs: President of the Downtown Residents Association, member of the Board of Directors of the Paseo del Rio Association, and the Downtown Alliance. She is passionate about San Antonio and in 2012, authored the book Downtown San Antonio, a project which she has described as a "labor of love" for her and is another example of her devotion to the area and in improving the quality of life for downtown residents.
