About the Horror Genre

A horror story is a story in which the focus is on creating a sense of terror.  Horror stories often feature supernatural creatures such as ghosts, monsters, witches, or vampires.

There is usually a sense of doom and/or uneasiness; and oftentimes, elements of mystery are incorporated into the plot.

The settings of horror stories often contribute to their sense of doom, being characterized by dark (and many times haunted) houses, castles, and mansions.
