Writing as Limpia with Carolina Hinojosa-Cisneros Saturday, October 3 12:30-2 pm Zoom Yes

Event is currently full		 In order to give ourselves a good limpia, una buena trapiada, we must create time and space. In this workshop we will conduct a self-limpia by writing to dislodge one or several of the 13 aires that ail us. Presenter Carolina Hinojosa-Cisneros comes to this work with you as a spiritual activist.  We will catalyze each of the four elements: earth, air, fire, and water.  Bring your markers, pens, paints, magazines for collage, computer, or just a pen and journal.

Join a virtual docent-led tour of the National Museum of Mexican Art's Día de Muertos exhibit. This year's exhibition, 'Solo un poco aquí' pays tribute to and remembers the numerous individuals from our community, Mexico, the U.S. and the entire world that have died from COVID-19.

Take and Make Craft Kits

Pick up a Nicho Take and Make Kit from any library location beginning September 15th!
Available on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.

Materials

Included in this kit: 

  • Jewelry Box
  • Decorative foils and rhinestones
  • Cardstock sheet with add-on nicho elements

You'll need: 

  • Scissors
  • Glue or Tape
  • A photo or drawing of a figure you'd like to honor
  • Additional craft materials of your choosing

Instructions:

  1. Select and cut out template of nicho frame from the included cardstock sheet
  2. Decorate nicho frame using included foil, rhinestones or materials of your choosing
  3. Place a photo or drawing of a figure you'd like to honor inside the jewelry box
  4. Fold and adhere nicho frame to the top of the jewelry box
  5. Continue decorating nicho to your hearts content
