Patty Paleta wants you to come to your nearest San Antonio Public Library location to sign up for our Summer with SAPL program. But, if you just can't wait to get started, you can also print your activity log here or use any piece of paper to draw or write what you read and do this summer. When you do make it to the library, be sure to let us know you printed at home and still need to register.

How does it work?

How does Summer with SAPL work for Kids?Children's summer bucket activity log

This summer is special - you get to set your own goal! Fill your bucket with the books you read and the fun things you do this summer.

  • Program runs June 1 – August 31.
  • Register by visiting any San Antonio Public Library location.
  • Use the space in and around the bucket to record what you do this summer! This could be the titles of books you read (or listen to), library programs you attend, or any other activity you think makes your summer great.
  • Children who have met their goal may claim a certificate and completion package beginning July 1, while supplies last.
  • All events are online. Find the complete schedule at
  • Special guest performances online every week in June and July. Details below.
  • Some children may receive the guide from their school or another community partner. If so, great! Just let our staff know so we can register you.

Summer 2021 Tuesday Programs Online

Join us on Tuesday afternoons starting June 8 for programs presented by SAPL children's librarians and Celebrate Summer with SAPL!  Registration is required through our online calendar or click on the links below to register to receive the Zoom information. 

Tuesday, June 8 at 3 pm: LEGO Club Online Live 

It's time to build! Please provide your own LEGOs, and we will have building challenges, time to share creations and more! Recommended for school-age kids. Grown-ups must be present to log child on and off and be available if needed. 

Tuesday, June 22 at 3 pm: Game Time Online Live -- Summer Games

Calling all Game Time Olympians! Time to show off your Game Time Skills! Join us for fun and fast-paced dancing, drawing and brain games. Please have paper and pen or pencil available. Recommended for ages 5-10. Grown-ups must be present to log child on and off and be available if needed. Let the Summer Games begin! 

Tuesday, July 6 at 3 pm: Pajama Story Time Online Live 

Preschoolers enjoy bedtime stories and songs that develop early literacy skills and foster curiosity. Feel free to wear pajamas to this family story time! Recommended for three to five year olds. 

Tuesday, July 20 at 3 pm: Scavenger Hunt Online Live

Join us for interactive scavenger hunts and other fun activities! Recommended for ages 5-10. Grown-ups must be present to log child on and off and be available if needed.

Dinosaur George

Friday, June 11, 25 & July 2, 9 at 2pm

Matt Sandbank Shadow Factory

Wednesday, June 16 at 2pm 

Stories and poetry come to life in the hands of Matt Sandbank, a nationally touring shadow puppeteer. For children 4 and up. Register to attend by clicking here.

Shadow Camp, June 1-August 1: Poems, puppets, and shadows return to town with Matt Sandbank's virtual Shadow Camp. This self-paced, three-part webinar series includes The Science of Shadows, Elements of Poetry, and Making Shadow Puppets.  There are several short videos on each topic. Poetry and Poses with Xelena González

Wednesday, June 23rd at 2pm

Young writers in this workshop will create magical metaphors that have the power to transform moods. Using light choreography, participants will embody their poems for extra emphasis and fun. The Astonishing World of Mr. Pitts
