Meet: Stieg Larsson

Stieg Larsson (1954-2004) was a Swedish writer and journalist.

     Larsson completed three books before his death in November 2004 of a heart attack. His first published novel, The girl with the Dragon Tattoo, was a surprise hit. Altogether his books have sold more than 20 million copies in 41 countries as of the spring of 2010. And in late July 2010 Stieg Larsson became the first author to reach 1 million in eBooks on

     According to Eva Gabrielsson, Larsson's long-time companion, a laptop with a partially written fourth book exists. Gabrielsson refuses to publish the novel unless she is granted full control over the series by Larsson's legal heirs (his father and brother).

     The Millennium series is intricately plotted with sympathetic series characters. However, readers should be aware of the graphic depictions of sex and rape and the high level of violence, particuarly against women.
