Film Premiere:  Idaho's Forgotten War

On September 20, 1974, Amy Trice, Chairwoman of the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, declared war
against the United States government. She is the only woman in U.S. history to do so,
challenging the government's broken promises and treaties with her people.  The film had
an introduction by the film's creator Sonya Rosario, with special guest appearances
by Idaho Senator Cherie Buckner Webb (former) and Amethyst Aitkin(grand-daughter of Amy Trice)
and included 
a Q and A opportunity.

First People of San Antonio

Long before the Spanish soldiers and the Canary Islanders settled in San Antonio, there was a thriving community of indigenous people living here.  Who were these "first people?"  How and where did they live?  What ultimately happened to them?

In celebration of Native American Heritage month, Sylvia Reyna, librarian, archivist and former Archaeologist, discussed the prevailing cultures of our area.

This progam was a delightful journey into the heart of indigenous Mexican culinary tradition with our hands-on workshop dedicated to making Alegrias, a beloved treat made with popped amaranth, honey, and seeds. Alegrias are a perfect blend of sweet and crunchy, offering a taste of rich cultural heritage in every bite!

Native Americans from the San Antonio Missions 

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Mickey Killian gave a presentation that explored the evolutionary history of the Native American groups that built the Missions and that have inhabited the areas around San Antonio for thousands of years.
