National Pet Week is May 4-10, 2025! Join San Antonio Public Library in celebrating our furry family members at any of the events scheduled below.

Go-Bag Craft Great Northwest Library Mon, May 5 12:30-2pm *Registration required at the program link* When you travel, you have your own bag so why shouldn't your pet? So come make a go-bag, a mini-tote bag you can decorate to reflect your pet and then fill with their stuff when it's time to leave the house! Mini-tote bags and decorating supplies will be provided but you're also welcome to bring your own.
Homemade Pet Food Made Easy! Potranco Library Tue, May 6 12-1pm You cook for family, why not your pets? It's well-known that fresh is best and the same is true for our pets. Come learn and see a demonstration of just how easy it can be to make basic cat and dog food for your furry family members.
DSL: Dog as a Second Language Johnston Library Tue, May 6 2-3pm Learn how to read your dog's body language and understand them better! Patrons will also learn how best to interact (or not) with stray and neighbor dogs.

Sit, Stay, Learn! Dog Training Demonstration Cortez Library Thur, May 8 2-3pm This demonstration will feature a real dog and Animal Care Services employee, and help owners understand why dogs do what they do and how we can become better guardians through an emphasis on positive reinforcement, consistency, and repetition. A brief Q&A will follow the demonstration. NOTE: This learning event is for people only, please do NOT bring your pet dog. Service animals are acceptable, if necessary.
