Below are a few of our many research collections.
The Wild, Wild West
The Wild West is here defined as the land in the United States west of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers between the end of the Civil War in 1865 and the end of World War I. Prior to 1865, this vast area might be better described as frontier but by the end of World War I, it was tamed and part of the nation.
This guide includes topics and sources for anyone wishing to research the "Wild West." All materials are available in the Texana/Genealogy collection of the San Antonio Public Library - with a few book items available for check-out.
