In her own words - McAllister, Edith

Edith Scott McAllister, (1908-2018)  matriarch of the well-known and respected McAllister family, led an accomplished and philanthropic life.  In 1972, she became the first woman in the United States to serve as a Campaign Chair for United Way.  She also served as president of the San Antonio Art League, the San Antonio Museum Association, the Women’s Committee of the San Antonio Symphony, and the Cancer Therapy and Research Center.  A founding trustee and past president of the Southwest School of Art, McAllister was twice honored as "Philanthropist of the Year" (1977 and 2013) by the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
