Dementia-Friendly San Antonio

The San Antonio Public Library has partnered with the UT Health Science Center San Antonio to promote dementia awareness.

Together, we will present several online programs. A full program schedule can be found below. More information about the Understanding a Diagnosis and Planning for the Future programs, as well as suggested reading and other community resources, can be found on the other pages of this LibGuide.

What is dementia?

Dementia is a symptom of several different diseases, most notably Alzheimer's disease. It not only affects memory but thinking and doing everyday tasks. Importantly, it is not a normal sign of aging; not every person gets it when they grow old.

What is a Dementia Friend?

Dementia Friends are community members trained in what it is like to live with dementia. Dementia Friends can help both people living with dementia and their friends and families.
