Fiesta is an annual event in San Antonio that began in 1891 to commemorate the heroes of the Battle of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. That first Fiesta was a parade dubbed the Battle of Flowers Parade. In the following years, more and more Fiesta events were held, eventually leading to the huge celebration we know today.
Fiesta has over 100 events every year. The celebration has occurred every year since 1891 with a few exceptions. There was no Fiesta in 1918 for WWI and between 1942-1945 for WWII. Because of COVID, there was no Fiesta in 2020.
While Fiesta is still about honoring the heroes of the Alamo and San Jacinto, it has also become a showcase for the culture, tradition, and people of San Antonio.
