Book Challenge Response

Resources for parents, teachers and teens about the First Amendment, Freedom to Read, what books are frequently challenged and how to support school librarians.

Here you are, in school, trying to make it through finals and figure out life, and someone is telling you there's a book you can't check out because someone decided it was inappropriate. Believe it or not, not only can you fight this, but you should as long as you feel comfortable. By speaking up against book challenges and censorship, you're showing the adults around you that you understand what you're reading and you can decide for yourself what is and isn't appropriate, that access to information should be equal for everyone.
