Dial A Story / Telecuentos

For over 20 years the children of San Antonio have been calling in to Dial-A-Story to hear a children's story.  The children's librarians record new stories every Monday and Thursday, one in English and one in Spanish.

June Activities

Enjoy this puppet show by our children's librarians, Ms. Christine and Ms. Gina! Then, make your own collage Big Bad Wolf.

You'll need: newspaper, construction paper (whole sheets and scraps), scissors, markers, and a glue stick.

Draw a wolf on construction paper and then cut or tear the newspaper to fill in the outline. Or, cut a wolf shape out of newspaper and then outline it after it is glued down. Use construction paper scraps to add details.

Make your own Yeti! Trace a Yeti shape onto a piece of white paper. Use cotton balls, pom poms, scraps of blue paper, or anything else you like to decorate the outline.

Join Miss Randi as we learn about Mythological creatures from around the world. Make your Kitsune/Fox mask with items you have at home!

Have you ever imagined being a knight? Attacking a castle? In medieval times, knights would often use a catapult to lay siege (to surround a building and cut off supplies with the aim of forcing those inside to surrender) to an enemy castle.
