Catholic Charities

Who are they: For the past 72 years, the agency’s focus has been to provide help and support to those in need so they may discover and enhance their own resources, as well as develop viable coping skills that will improve their personal and social functioning. With a network of social services to help those from birth to the end of life, Catholic Charities offers the help individuals and families need, when they need it most.

Services: Utility assistance, rental assistance, adolescent parenting programs, parenting and family classes, emergency services for hurricane evacuees, counseling for adults, teens and children and senior community services.

Eligibility/Fees : Must meet certain age limits and other requirements for utility assistance. Proof of income is needed.  

Emergency Childcare Assistance

“Our City Cares” funding is allocated by City Council to assist San Antonio residents with short term child care during an emergency or extenuating circumstance.

Parent Child Incorporated​

Who are they: Parent/Child, Incorporated is a non-profit family oriented Human Service Agency.

Services : Children are served in Early Head Start, Project Success and in the Licensed Child Day Care Homes. They also have an extensive CACFP program, serving Early Head Start, Head Start and unaffiliated child care centers.

Pre-K 4 SA

Who are they: Pre-K 4 SA is a full-day prekindergarten program that also offers free after-school care until 6:00 p.m. City of San Antonio is partnering with school districts and other education entities to provide this service.

Services: Free tuition is available for students residing in the Edgewood, Harlandale, San Antonio, and South San Antonio Independent School Districts

Family Services Association

Who are they: Family Service Association of San Antonio has been building strong families since 1903. It is the oldest human service agency in San Antonio dedicated to helping children, seniors, and families in need.

Services: Individual, family, child, marital/couple and group counseling for those dealing with effects of abuse and neglect, Head Start Program.

Parenting Books at the Library
