On September 18th young poets celebrated the love and joy of poetry with San Antonio Poet Laureate Andrea "Vocab" Sanderson. This notable local figure shared her talent, tools, and devices to enhance the writing experience of our participants.

My voice is awake
I am awake.
My voice is awake like a feather in the wind
Bursting with song.
To the sunlight dancing in the window
My heart is open.
and I feel like the day is ready to remake
My voice is awake in the wind and the rain
My voice is my song
And singing with sunlight dancing in the window
Basking in the light of a new day
My voice is awake when I’m singing in the shower and no one can hear me
My voice is awake when I’m shouting for everyone to “wake up!”
