VR with Oculus Rift

What is the Oculus Rift?

The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality system. It is essentially a headset, or a pair of goggles, that allow you to few a virtual world through a computer and accompanying software.

How do I get one?

Use the TSSR Request System to check the availability of the Oculus Rift system and request it at your location.

How do I set it up?

Thats what this libguide is for! The set up isn't hard, but there are a lot of cords and it is helpful, especially the first time you set it up, to have a guide. There is a video below and a pdf handout of the steps to accompany it. Good luck!

What if I have questions?

Contact me! I'm Julia, the teen librarian at Brook Hollow. You can email me with questions- link on the left side :)

Adapters for Mondopad Users

If you are using a mondopad for the viewing of the Oculus Rift you will need a VGA  to HDMI adapter cord. This will allow you to plug into the VGA port on the back of the computer, and the HDMI port on the back of the mondopad. These can cost anywhere from $12- $25, and you will want the cord to be at least a couple of feet long

Here are some examples/links for this type of adapter:

(^This one is from HEB and comes with a a few different adapters. I have this one and it works great!)

(^This one from Walmart has a six foot cord.)

You can also buy these at Best Buy, Target, Amazon, and other stores.
