1957

Prolific author Dorothy M. Johnson is one of the most celebrated writers of the Western genre. She is awarded one of the highest honors in the genre by the Western Writers of America: the Spur Award. She wins the award for her short story Lost Sister which was featured in her collection The Hanging Tree. Her stories and books have been adapted to film on multiple occasions.

2021

Dame Jane Campion becomes the first woman to receive a second Acadamy Award nomination for Best Director. The award is her first win in the category. The film is the Revisionist Western The Power of the Dog. It is adapted from the novel of the same name by Thomas Savage.
