Patrick J. Kennedy earned his law degree from St. Mary’s University and has served as the director of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the development board of the University of Texas Health Science Center and the advisory boards of St. Mary's University School of Law and School of Business, but he is perhaps best known for founding La Mansion Del Rio hotel on our city’s Riverwalk. He says that the idea for a hotel on that site came to him in 1966 while staring out the window at the Nix Hospital after the birth of his youngest child. The hotel opened in time for HemisFair ’68 under the name La Posada Motor hotel and since then has developed into a first class luxury hotel and spa.
