Lauretta and Frank Manuppelli met at a party in New Jersey while they were both working for the FBI. Frank was originally from San Antonio and after the couple left the FBI they came back to his hometown where he took a position as Personnel Director for the City. He went on to become the General Manager and Executive Vice President of Hemisfair, where he worked tirelessly helping to make the 1968 World’s Fair the huge success it was. Frank later joined with local home builder Ray Ellison as Executive Vice-President of Ellison Industries. Meanwhile, Lauretta focused her energies on their family and on her work with the Junior Forum, teaching English to Hispanic mothers. It was while doing this that she learned to love the Mexican-American culture and customs. She is most proud of their children and of the contributions she and Frank were able to make to San Antonio, calling this the best place in Texas to be.
